Buro Happold was founded in Bath in 1976 by the late Professor Sir 'Ted' Happold, growing from a small partnership of eight offering only structural engineering, to an international multi-disciplinary consultancy. Today there are over 500 people based in our Bath Office.

As a firm of consulting engineers, we share an important role in helping to improve the quality of the built environment, ensuring that developments are undertaken in a way that ?touches the earth lightly?. This philosophy is enshrined in our culture and values, imparted to our employees, and born out in the designs and the projects on which we work.

From the Bath office, we provide a comprehensive general and specialist engineering consultancy for complete developments, buildings and their infrastructure across all major sectors. We focus in particular on the sport & leisure sector, public buildings, airports, commercial developments, masterplanning and education. As well as delivering projects here in the South West (about 20% of our portfolio), we work on projects throughout the UK and in the international arena.

We also have strong links with regional universities. Our engineers act as visiting professors at both Bath University and University of the West of England. Through these relationships, we?re constantly challenging the norm and developing innovative engineering techniques.

There is a strong social network within the Bath graduate community with events ranging from formal talks and meetings facilitated by the Grad Forum to social events such as pub quizzes and Friday Football. You also benefit from being located in the heart of a World Heritage City with Bristol only ten minutes away by train.
