This project is the winner of the Building Awards Project of the Year 2007, the Building Services Awards Major Project of the Year 2007, the British Construction Industry Major Project Award 2007, and the IStructE 2007 Award for Sports Structures.
A 60,000-seat stadium at Ashburton Grove featuring five main levels of accommodation and four seating tiers yet contained within a compact site footprint that also respects the height restriction imposed by local planners. The roof form features a constant eaves line around the entire perimeter and then slopes downwards towards the pitch. This creates a naturally dished form that will enhance the pitch-microclimate and the atmosphere within the arena, and will ensure the stadium is a landmark icon.
